Young Democrats, energized by the freeze of Prop. 200 measures, continue to register voters across Arizona

Young Democrats across Arizona are participating in voter registration drives in anticipation of Monday night’s deadline.

While drives and events were already planned in anticipation of the October 9th midnight deadline, the rejection yesterday by the 9th circuit court of components of the former Prop. 200 has encouraged organizers.

“Young people were disproportionately disaffected by the measures of Prop. 200 ” said YDAz spokesman Danny Friedman “Young people are always on the go. In between moving out of the parent’s house, to the dorm, to an apartment, already registered voters could be rejected at the polls because of a recent move. Utility bills, one of the alternate forms of identification, are often sent to parents adding to the difficulty to prove voting eligibility.”

With the court’s rejection of these measures, YDAz expects to be able to register more young people than previously anticipated before Monday’s deadline.

  1. Today I am searching Democrat sites for content. After several hours (I need a coffe break) Nothing has popped up on my screen.

That is to say nothing but how much people are opposed to President Bush and the Republican Party in general.

I looked for issues…statements on financial policies that might be good or bad for the future of our great country. On Republican sites there were proposals concerning legislation to continue to stimulate our economy..provide new jobs..cut taxes for the working class. But the Democrat sites such as yours…I fined nothing but “get out the vote, run Dennis Hastert out of office, make Harry Reid the new majority leader!”

Why? Why shoud a voter who is looking for a person or party to align with (and contribute to) go Democrat. What has Harry Reid done? All I have ever heard about him is that he is corrupt..he just profited over 1.1million dollars from a law firm run by his son in law. He has been funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to lobbying firms to gain land and minereral favors for himself and his family in the state of Nevada. He criticizes policies of the administration..but offers no alternative. Senator Kyl has proposed border control legislation among other positive activities. I see President Bush out there every day working from dawn to midnight… putting up new ideas, acting on proposals, negotiating global economic issues. I see Democrats as stalled like a pond of water..going nowhere, doing nothing (except running down the President).

It is a shame – I have searched and compared and like most people that I have talked to I am leaning Republican…they are all action and when they get it wrong, they recognize their mistakes, make corrections and keep moving for their constituents.

The Associated Press called Sen Reid to ask him about the allegations against him and the Democrats…he simply hung up the phone!
