Guest Blogger: Tony Wagner - ADP Party Development

What an exciting time to be a Democrat in Arizona. We had some great gains in the last election and are looking for even more in 2008. We found in 2006 that areas where we had a strong party organization, we did exceptionally well. So, what better way to win in 2008, then to strengthen our local democratic organizations. That’s where I come in.

I am the Arizona Democratic Party’s Party Development Campaign Manager and I, along with many of the state officers, are responsible for developing local party organizations and preparing them for the 2008 election cycle. There are a few different ways we plan to accomplish this.

I will be working with the vice-chairs of the ADP at local levels to assess the needs of the local organizations and strive to provide the resources necessary to address those needs. Additionally, we will be providing a Speakers’ Bureau, a centralized hub to provide presenters, aimed at party development, issues, candidate recruitment, and candidate training. We will also be holding regular statewide workshops addressing various issues pertinent to most local organizations. Finally, we will be supplementing county parties with grants from our county mobilization fund.

Each of these activities is intended to strengthen our grassroots organizations by attempting to be as responsive to their needs as possible. We know that our strength as a party comes from the bottom up and we must do all that we can to develop our local grassroots organizations.

Tony Wagner is the Party Development Campaign Manager for the Arizona Democratic Party.

  2. Great to see Democrats on the move! Is LULAC going to be a big factor for the Democratic Party in Arizona for the upcoming election?
