PHOENIX – Following the selection of Sen. John McCain’s choice for Speaker of the House, Rep. Paul Ryan, Arizonans deserve to know: Will McCain continue to support the Ryan budget?

Though he has dodged questions in the past, McCain has consistently voted to support the legislation that would turn Medicare into a voucher system, cut Pell Grants for college students, and slash Head Start and job training programs.

"Arizonans don’t want Republicans’ push to end Medicare as we know it, cut Pell Grants, and increase prescription drug costs for thousands of seniors,” said Arizona Democratic Party spokesperson Barbara Lubin. “But Senator McCain has doubled down on his support for Paul Ryan and his reckless spending plans. Our seniors, our students, and our fellow Arizonans deserve better."
