Life and politics in Apache county
Bad? Brilliant?

Concho is a rural community. There are only a handful of businesses here. We enjoy the peace and simplicity of country life.
Moving here from Los Angeles county five years ago, it took me awhile to adjust. The silence and darkness of the nights were unsettling.
Now I love it here. Especially, I've grown accustomed to my privacy, with only one neighbor. City or country, we all want to be left in peace on our property, in our own homes. Right?

Recentely, the city council of St. Johns has decided we need more laws around here. 118 pages of new laws dictating what we can and can't do on our own property. The zoning ordinance of Apache county is the main reason for my sudden interest in local politics.
When I moved here I didn't bother to vote. In fact, I had stopped voting completely because of my disgust with the presidential election of 2000. Now with the '08 elections next year and with no chance of a Bush re-election (Unless he gets his way and becomes emperor of America), I feel optimistic for the future and I have renewed interest in politics, local and national. So, I've registered to vote and I'm trying to form a Democrat's club here in Concho.
