Renzi link should be pursued after Gonzales’ resignation
Arizonans deserve to know why their U.S. Attorney, Paul Charlton, was fired and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ resignation as the Department of Justice isn’t the end of the story.
Gonzales testified before Congress about the U.S. Attorney purge several times this year. Even Republicans said that Gonzales’ testimony before Congress wasn’t credible. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/

“It’s about time Alberto Gonzales got out of the way so that justice can be done,” said Maria Weeg, executive director of the Arizona Democratic Party. “Now we urge the president to choose an attorney general who will put the law over political influence, someone who can get to the bottom of why Paul Charlton was fired.”
Paul Charlton was placed on the infamous “black list” of U.S. Attorneys soon after the investigation into Renzi’s alleged corrupt business practices. Renzi announced last week that he would not seek another term in office.
Weeg again urged Renzi to step down so that his constituents can have full representation in the U.S. Congress.
“Renzi has resigned all his committee assignments, and the leadership of his own party has asked him not to participate in a fundraising program,” Weeg said. “The only person he’s serving now is himself.”
