Schweikert anything but fiscally responsible

The Club for Growth’s recent endorsement of David Schweikert demonstrates the weakness of the Republican field in the Fifth Congressional District.

“The Club for Growth must not have seen Schweikert’s taxpayer-funded puff piece about his dog,” said Emily Bittner, spokeswoman for the Arizona Democratic Party. “I’m not sure what Schweikert thinks fiscal responsibility means, but I’ve never met anyone who would confuse it with blowing tax dollars on promoting your pet. Perhaps the club thought Schweikert was a better pick than a two-time loser to Mitchell or a lobbyist.”

The Arizona Democratic Party also called on Schweikert to release how much it cost Maricopa County taxpayers to produce the video about his dog, Charlie Schweikert.

Schweikert has been using the video on his campaign Web site.
