Nancy Young Wright to fill Saradnik's seat

Arizona Democratic Party welcomes experience, enthusiasm
Young Wright will bring to representing Southern Arizona

Tucson, Ariz. – The Arizona Democratic Party welcomes Nancy Young Wright as the newest member of the Arizona House of Representatives.

The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted Friday to send Young Wright to the Legislature. She will fill the vacancy created when Rep. Lena Saradnik resigned to recover fully from a stroke.

“I am honored that the Supervisors chose me to replace Rep. Saradnik, who I respect tremendously. It’s a huge responsibility to fill Lena’s shoes, but I’m ready to dig in and try very hard,” Young Wright said. “I will work hard to live up to the faith the Supervisors placed in me on behalf of my district. We have a wonderful team of legislators in Southern Arizona and I look forward to working with them and our Governor on moving Arizona forward.”

Young Wright is a three-time member of the Amphitheater School Board, winner of the Arizona Newspapers Freedom of Information Award and a 25-year resident of the district.

“Nancy’s work on the school board was exemplary, and people all over Southern Arizona respect her experience and commitment to our children and her community,” said Maria Weeg, executive director of the Arizona Democratic Party. “We are proud to welcome Nancy to the growing ranks of our Democratic caucus in the Legislature.”
