Democrats congratulate national convention delegates

The Arizona Democratic Party Chair today congratulated the 37 people chosen at caucuses Saturday to join Arizona’s 67-member delegation to the first-ever Democratic National Convention held in the West. The 37 delegates and six alternates will represent their respective Congressional Districts in choosing the Democratic candidate for President.

“I congratulate all of Saturday’s winners,” said Don Bivens, Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party. “As the official kickoff for our Party’s historic campaign to take back the White House, the upcoming Denver convention will be an exhilarating, once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Arizona’s diverse delegation to the Democratic National Convention includes young people, women, African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans. “The faces of our delegation reflect the many faces of our state. I’m proud that Democrats are the party of inclusion,” Bivens said.

Twenty other members of Arizona’s national convention delegation will be chosen on April 26 at the Arizona Democratic Party’s state convention in Phoenix.
