2020 Presidential Delegate Selection Plan Approved
PHOENIX — The Arizona Democratic Party Executive Board recently approved its 2020 Delegate Selection Plan following a 30-day public comment period. The plan is now being reviewed by the Democratic National Committee.
Arizona Democrats will send 78 delegates and 6 alternates to the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, Wis. next summer.
The Arizona Democratic Party will use a proportional representation system based upon the results of Arizona’s Presidential Preference Election that will be held on March 17, 2020. Participation in the Arizona Delegate Selection process is open to all voters who wish to participate as registered Democrats.
The Arizona Democratic Party will implement programs with specific goals and timetables to encourage full participation, particularly among underrepresented communities.
“Arizona is going to be a presidential battleground in 2020, and that starts with making sure we have a diverse group of delegates representing our party at the DNC next year,” said Herschel Fink, Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Party.
